Zebra card products provide businesses enhanced security,

- Direct to Card Printing
Zebra’s Value class, Performance class, and Security class card
printers print directly to plastic cards using dye sublimation
and/or thermal transfer printing. With thermal transfer printing,
ink from a ribbon is heated and transferred directly onto the
surface of a plastic card. With dye sublimation, heat vaporizes
the ribbon dye, which then permeates the plastic card. Both
print methods allow for color or monochromatic printing.
- Retransfer Printing
Unlike direct to card printing, retransfer printers print onto a
flexible, transparent film that is then thermally bonded to the
card. This print method is ideal for printing on uneven card
surfaces, such as smart cards, or for when the application
calls for very high image quality or cards that are more durable
and abrasion resistant.
